The normal pattern of our meetings is to draw random prompts, write for a few minutes inspired by the prompt, share our writings and then move on to the next random prompt.
It leads to plenty of variety, but every piece is very short.
This time we tried some very structured prompts. The purpose was to guide the writing through a series of episodes of a story.
This turned out to be very successful. Some felt the challenge of writing a longer piece stretched them and helped them to grow. Others became drawn into the story they were writing.
All wanted to try following this format again perhaps carrying on from where we had to leave it. It seemed two hours was too short a time.
